January 20th - SHIVA-SHAKTI by Adesh Sundaresan and Savita Sundaresan

Tara Arts & ZerOclassikal present Shiva-Shakti

Exploring the male & female within Carnatic vocal music

Siblings Adesh and Savita Sundaresan explore ideas of the balance and harmony between the male and female roles within devotional Carnatic music, through the ragas associated with Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti. In this exciting concert, Savita will assume the role of Shiva, while Adesh takes on the songs of Shakti. Both incredible vocalists, their technical flare is impeccable and unmissable.

Introduced to Carnatic music by their grandmonther, Adesh and Savita grew up in London with the ever-present sounds of classical music. Having begun their training under guru Sri Sampath Kumar Archarya in London, they now receive regular instruction from Dr Mala Swamy in Chennai. Both have performed extensively across the U.K. and in India and have recently given concerts for the newly live-streamed concert series Raga Room.

Savita is the winner of the UK global carnatican award in 2017 and recently represented the UK in the world finals. She is also a talented grade 8 Western flautist. Adesh recently hosted his own radio series ‘Aalaap with Adesh’ on Resonance FM.
