The very last session of the zerOclassikal Boot Camp is all about Sound Equipment and Stage Readiness.

Master your stage set-up with this session led by by Camilo Tirado, a British-Chilean producer and sound engineer with 20 years of experience, hosted by our Artistic Director Jonathan Mayer.

Producer & Sound Engineer

Camilo is a British-Chilean producer and sound engineer with 20 years of experience touring around the world and producing music for many outstanding artists.

Camilo has his own small studio in Tottenham, London, where he mixes and masters ‘world’, jazz, folk and electronic music (amongst others), but he has also worked in various larger commercial studios, such as Real World, Angel/Abbey Road, Metropolis and The Strongroom.

He has worked with influential artists like Yoko Ono, Jack Bruce, Terry Riley, Anoushka Shankar, Talvin Singh, Kathryn Tickell, Portico and Nitin Sawhney at prestigious venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Barbican, Sadler's Wells, Sage Gateshead, Opera North and King's Place. He has worked at some of the biggest music festivals, including Glastonbury, WOMAD, Reading/Leeds, Dekmantel, Roskilde, Pukkelpop and Dimensions Festival. He is currently on tour with electronic music pioneer James Holden, playing tabla, percussion and live electronics.

Jonathan Mayer

Sitarist, Composer, zerOclassikal's Artistic Director & Director at First Hand Records

Jonathan Mayer - son of the late Kolkata composer John Mayer - is a renowned sitarist & composer, who has composed extensively for many genres including jazz, Indian, dance & symphonic writing and has performed all over the world, and two very successful tours in India.

Jonathan began his musical training at just 5 years old, learning violin from his grandfather Albert Hepton, piano from James Methuen-Campbell and composition from his father, and later mastered the sitar. His ability to read Western notation has allowed him to perform in a variety of genres – playing with artists such as Orlando Consort, The London Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra, among other notable names.

As a composer he has written for Kenny Wheeler, Orlando Consort, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Moravian Philharmonic & The Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic. He co-foundered First Hand Records in 2007.
