Day 1 of the zerOclassikal Boot Camp is all about Social Media Marketing, PR, and Agency Pros & Cons.
Led by social media influencer and consultant Emily Mayer, who will share tips on how to grow your online presence and get noticed. With insights from zerOclassikal Artistic Director Jonathan Mayer on whether joining an agency can help you better promote your music. Leading the second half will be PR consultant Amy McLauchlan, who will talk about how to write press releases and approach the press.
EMILY MAYER
Social Media Marketer
Emily is a social media and marketing professional with extensive experience managing brands' online presence. Currently serving as a social media and marketing assistant for two restaurants and boasts over 250,000 followers on her own TikTok account.
In this session, Emily will take about how musicians can boost their presence and reach on social media platforms.
Jonathan Mayer
Sitarist, Composer & zerOclassikal's Artistic Director
Jonathan Mayer - son of the late Kolkata composer John Mayer - is a renowned sitarist & composer, who has composed extensively for many genres including jazz, Indian, dance & symphonic writing and has performed all over the world, and two very successful tours in India.
Jonathan began his musical training at just 5 years old, learning violin from his grandfather Albert Hepton, piano from James Methuen-Campbell and composition from his father, and later mastered the sitar. His ability to read Western notation has allowed him to perform in a variety of genres – playing with artists such as Orlando Consort, The London Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra, among other notable names. He is also the co-founder of First Hand Records.
Amy McLauchlan
PR Consultant
Amy McLauchlan is a freelance Consultant and Project Manager based in Birmingham. She has 20 years experience in Branding, Design, Print, Social Media Marketing and PR. She has worked in production for Penguin Random House, in design and branding for Top 10 agencies, and in marketing and PR with arts events and festival organisers including Arts Council National Portfolio Organisations. Amy works with a range of clients in the Midlands and London including Capsule, Multistory, BE Festival, Amina Khayyam Dance Company, Self Made Hero and the Birmingham Film & TV Market.
