Friday 20th April 2018 - An Inner Voice and ONE

An Inner Voice

In An Inner Voice, two talented vocalists, Yarlinie & Kobini come together to create an innovative piece experimenting with a notion rarely used within Carnatic music – harmonies. This unique and progressive Carnatic piece, influenced by their own personal journeys reflects new ideas within improvisations, harmonies and raga structure.

Supported by HMUK and PRS Foundation

ONE

The Veena is a South Indian stringed lute instrument, one of the oldest within the South Asian tradition and with each individual instrument having its own tonal quality, style and timbre; will a Veena ensemble work?

In this experiment, an ensemble of Vainikas explore and push the limits of this ancient instrument over a programme of new work featuring unique bass tones, multi-octave sounds and rich gamakas.

‘One' is the latest work from zerOclassikal, a project to offer radical and experimental approaches to South Asian classical music, as well as platform the next generation of British South Asian classical talent.
